Here's a quick, 7-tip plan you can follow to put yourself in the running to land the #bestjobever at the #1 tech camp on the planet!
1. Do your research and find your "why"
The more you know about our company, mission, and the in's and out's of life at iD, the better you'll be able to illustrate why YOU are a perfect candidate for the job. Fun fact: Our application ends with the question, “Why you?” Make the most of this opportunity to stand out and tailor your answer to our community.
2. “Apply” yourself
Take your time while filling out the application. We want to hear about every job you’ve had, whether it was at Chipotle or a tech startup. Did you play Roblox as a kid? Put it on your application! Volunteered with a student organization? Put that on there too! You’d be surprised how many skills transfer across different working environments to iD Tech.
3. Show, don't tell
Prepare details, details, details! Got a skill like "communication" on your resume? Make sure you can point to a specific instance in which you demonstrated that skill. Your educational background, work history, and past experiences tell a story about what you bring to the table—make sure it's a good one with plenty of examples on deck!
4. Make an interview "cheat sheet"
Did you know there are over 60 different classes in our course catalog? Of course you do—you did your research! If you're interviewing for an instructor position, show you know your stuff by narrowing that list down to classes you're qualified to teach.
Interviewing for a Camp Director/Assistant Director job? There is a lot involved in this awesome leadership position. You'll want to know the job description like the back of your hand, and jot down relevant experiences to discuss in your interview.
5. Read everything we send you—twice!
If you see an email from us, it's packed with useful information. Keep an eye out for interview logistics, details about the job you’re applying for, and information about your interviewer. We want to set our applicants up for success, and it reflects well on you when you make the most of these resources.
6. Be yourself and have fun
But seriously, this is a summer camp after all! We're looking for knowledgeable, responsible staff who can also create the fun, quirky environment iD Tech is famous for. Our interview process is designed to assess your qualifications AND get to know your interests and personality. So, infuse these qualities where appropriate during your interview.
7. Make your questions count
Don't be shy with these! We are happy to answer your questions. It's worth asking yourself, though, is this a detail I could find on the iD website or by reading over the job description one more time? Or is this more of an opinion or experience-based question that only my interviewer can answer? We welcome all questions in the interview process, but the second type is especially valuable both to us and to you.
With that, good luck! If you've yet to start the application process or want to learn more, check out our jobs page.
