This summer, your teen can spend two weeks as an honorary Stanford University student, mentored by elite instructors, networking with distinguished tech professionals from Google, META, or Tesla, learning in high-energy tech labs, and exploring the inspiring Silicon Valley and San Francisco Bay Area. This program is designed for teens looking to learn with a global cohort of students from around the world. As such, English-speaking instructors can provide language support in Mandarin.

Global Academy course offerings

Teens can choose from one of two programs, BattleBots® Robotics Academy or AI and Machine Learning Academy with NVIDIA. In both programs, teens will meet and hear from industry leaders like Steve Hoffman - CEO of Founders Space and godfather of entrepreneurship in Silicon Valley - as well as leaders from other prestigious tech companies. Barry Katz, a Stanford professor for over 30 years in the mechanical engineering department and a leader in product design, will also lead a design thinking session with students. 

BattleBots® Robotics Academy

Duration: 13 days, 12 nights

Your teen will get hands-on experience with the VEX V5 robotics system, as they learn how to build and optimize a robot from scratch. They will also use a 3D printer to design their creations, helping them build essential creative engineering and coding skills. Once your teen has perfected their robot, they will show off its full potential in a BattleBots®-style robot competition.

Your teen will get hands-on with the newest tech in the Jetson series, with access to a small computing powerhouse, a webcam, and the resources to push Python further than ever before. Over 13 days, your teen will build a project capable of detecting objects in pictures, recognizing actions, and creating code that can react to different visual stimuli.

Frequently asked questions

This program is exclusively for teens aged 13-17 who are interested in learning in a global cohort alongside kids from around the world, are independent, and comfortable being away from home. Students must be able to speak and read English at an equivalent of CEFR proficiency of B1 or higher, as all course materials are in English. Students must be able to work in groups. (NOTE: Language support will be available in Mandarin.)

Your teen will learn from iD Tech’s exceptional team of elite US-based, English-speaking adult instructors (who will be bilingual in either Mandarin or Spanish), who go on to be hired by the most prestigious tech companies in the world, like Google, EA, Disney, and Microsoft.

Customized camp curriculum and take-home project, official certificate of achievement (for qualifying students), iD Tech diploma and course transcript, accommodations (including linens) on the Stanford campus, all meals during the trip, all tuition, events, and tickets to venues, swag bag with limited-edition t-shirt, stainless steel water bottle and more, travel insurance. (Airfare is not included in the cost of this program, and is the responsibility of the student.) Students enrolled in the AI and Machine Learning Academy with NVIDIA will get to take home their Jetson Orin Nano™. 

Visa application and processing is not included in the cost of the program. For those applicants who need a visa to travel to the United States, it is recommended that you apply by the early application deadline to allow sufficient time for visa processing.

On breaks between lab sessions, your teen will participate in social games like ultimate frisbee, capture the flag, kickball, board games, and more, including nights having fun with US students.

When lab sessions are finished for the day, your teen will adventure off-campus to visit big name company headquarters, explore nearby landmarks, and interact with cool new tech. Weekends and evenings are filled with exciting excursions like sightseeing, tastings, professional sports thrills, and fun at amusement parks, and more.
