Academy NEXT is an intensive 2-week summer program running Monday through Friday (overnight at most locations with the option to stay the weekend within the two weeks).
Teens will learn in a lab on an inspiring university campus with a balanced daily schedule of assignment-driven workshops and outdoor/recreational activities. Courses are led by experienced instructors in a small-group setting.
Week 1: Research & Prototype
Students will work in groups to rapidly prototype and create a couple of projects. They'll research methods and ways that they can use technology to solve real-world problems. Then, they'll form teams and come up with a plan for their final capstone project, build the first iteration of their prototype, and explore different methods for doing so.
Week 2: Iterate & Pitch
Students will work in teams on their final capstone project. They'll provide feedback to each other, iterate on their prototype, and continue to improve and change it to best suit their needs. Then, they'll create a pitch deck and present their final projects to the group.
Upon successful completion of this program, iD Tech will grant a certificate of completion to participants, along with a course transcript outlining everything teens learned during the program.
